Waterbury, Connecticut (July 5, 2010) – The authors of Military Education Benefits for College have chosen to donate a portion of their proceeds to the Wounded Warrior Project, an organization dedicated to helping improve the lives of injured service members.
The authors, David J. Renza and LTC (Ret.) Edmund J. Lizotte, are both army veterans who work at Post University in admissions dealing specifically with active military, veteran and dependent student populations.
Together, they collaborated on Military Education Benefits for College, a book that they envisioned would not only explain the complicated process of education benefits for military affiliated students, but would also encourage military personnel and veterans to use their benefits and better their lives through education. The book was published in May, 2010 by Savas Beatie, a publisher of military and historical books from El Dorado Hills, California.
"Our vision from the start was to create a blueprint for the military student or veteran to attend college, but we didn’t want to stop there,” said Renza, who himself earned a master’s degree using his benefits as an active military member and a veteran. “Explaining the process is only the first step. We also want to inspire the great men and women who served our country to consider education as a way to enrich their military careers and to prepare for the transition to civilian careers."
To help realize their goal, the authors decided to donate 15% of the proceeds from all copies of the book purchased exclusively through their website and their publisher’s website to the Wounded Warrior Project. The mission of the Wounded Warrior Project is to honor and empower wounded warriors. Its purpose is to raise awareness and to enlist the public’s aid for the needs of severely injured service members, to help severely injured men and women aid and assist each other, and to provide unique, direct programs and services to meet their needs. WWP is a national, non-partisan organization headquartered in Jacksonville, FL. To get involved and learn more, visit www.woundedwarriorproject.org.
“Our main objective with this book is to help our great veterans improve their lives through education,” said Renza. “We can think of no group of veterans who would benefit more from improving their education than our wounded warriors.”
In order for the donation to be made, the book must be purchased through the authors’ website www.militaryedbenefits.com. It can be purchased on its own for $18.95 plus shipping and handling, or packaged with a bi-monthly newsletter that can be purchased for an additional one-time fee of $3.50. The newsletter will ensure that the purchaser of the book will be kept aware of the ever-changing education benefits described in the book, to include the still-evolving Post 9/11 GI Bill benefit.
